Thank you for visiting A Black Dog About the House. This community began with a simple premise – to provide hope, awareness, and support for relationships affected by mental illness.
Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. On average, 1 in 5 people will experience depression at some stage of their life. The effects of depression can fragment the foundation of the most solid relationships, leading to guilt, confusion, and frustration for the carer and those they are supporting.
Our community purpose is to raise awareness and understanding for people who are supporting loved ones and friends with mental illness. We aim to provide useful support resources, information, inspirational quotes and our own personal insights to assist you on your journey.
‘A Black Dog About The House – stories of supporting a partner with depression’ by Carmela Pollock & Miriam E. Miles will be a book written by carers for carers. It will be a compilation of personal stories, sharing essential information, hopes and practical strategies written by those who have walked the daily path of supporting a partner with depression.
