ARAFMI Mental Health Carers Australia (Association of Relatives and Friends of the Mentally Ill) – advocacy services for mental health carers. ARAFMI services are available across Australia. Click here to see what is available in your state.
BeyondBlue – providing advice, information and support on all aspects of mental health. They have an active advice online forum called ‘Supporting Family and Friends‘ and General Information. All resources are free.
Carers Australia – provide carer support and services (covers all types of carers not just mental health). They have programs available that are free to the public. Click here for details. These include counselling and advisory services.
Conversation Matters – suite of online resources developed to support community discussion about suicide. The resources provide practical information to guide conversations about suicide.
Mind Australia – services available across Australia covering counselling, workshops and online forums etc. Click here to locate a Mind office close to you or call Carer Helpline 1300 554 660. Mind also provides a Carer online Forum for Australian families, friends and other carers of someone living with mental illness. It is an anonymous online space to share stories and receive advice. COPMI (Children of Parents with a Mental Illness) – national initiative developed to provide information for parents, their family and friends to support children who have a parent(s) with mental illness. To start the conversation with children about mental illness click here for free resources.

VIC –Anxiety Recovery Centre Victoria – services, support and education for people and families affected by obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), OCD spectrum disorders including trichotillomania and body dysmorphic disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and agoraphobia, generalised anxiety disorder, specific phobias, stress disorders, and childhood specific anxiety problems such as separation anxiety and school refusal.
